Our Process.

We begin each project with an introductory phone call to learn about your project and to share more about how we work. If both parties decide to move forward, we typically schedule a complimentary in-person consultation to continue the conversation.

Our in-person consultation gives us an opportunity to meet you and discuss your project in more detail. At this meeting we typically review your architectural plans and discuss your project requirements, goals, schedule, and budget. At the end of this meeting, we like to take a set of plans with us so that we can develop a proposal for working with you on your project.

We devise a plan for your project and determine how we would ensure its greatest success. Once we have identified the best approach, we develop a detailed proposal outlining the scope of work, estimate of costs and schedule. From there, we review the proposal with you and answer any questions you might have. Once we are in agreement, we sign a contract to begin the project as planned.

Before we begin physical work of any kind, we hold a meeting during which we will introduce you to the team that will be supervising and constructing your project, confirm your agreement of the plan and schedule we’ve created and discuss the frequency and style of communication that will keep you best informed about our progress. Following the kickoff meeting, your Blackline team will order the materials, fixtures, and finishes required for your project, mobilize tools and staff, identify and manage priorities and ultimately establish momentum.

After we have completed thorough planning, we are ready to install your foundation. We do this by performing any demolition or excavation needed in order to prepare a strong foundation for the rest of your structure.

Now that we have a strong foundation, we can move forward with building the structure of your building. When the structure is in place, we install rough utilities including your electrical, plumbing, mechanical and technical systems. Next, we weatherproof the building by installing exterior doors and windows, roofing and exterior siding.

The project begins looking like the final product when we start installing the finishes. After we get material and product approvals from you and your architect or designer, we begin by installing walls, ceilings and floor surfaces. Next, we work on finish carpentry, paint, cabinets and countertops, followed by plumbing and light fixtures. If your design includes any custom cabinetry or built-in furniture, we begin installing it at this stage.

During the project completion stage, we perform a thorough final inspection of your space and listen to your feedback about the project. If we discover any issues during our inspection that need to be addressed, we will call back the appropriate personnel or subcontractors to make final corrections.
